Xiamen Gathers Talents to Discuss Innovation in Coatings. The Xiamen Technology Forum - Technology Exchange Salon hosted by Kastar concluded successfully on October 21. This industry event, centered on coatings technology, brought together industry experts, business elites, and partners. 01. Speech by Shi Yimin, President of Fujian Coatings Industry Association

At the salon, Shi Yimin, President of the Fujian Coatings Industry Association, mentioned that the global coatings industry is in a phase of "green transformation and technological restructuring." Fujian, with its port and manufacturing advantages and its commitment to "dual carbon" practices, has become a testing ground and growth engine for the industry's transformation. Local companies have overcome technical challenges in many areas, but face challenges related to environmental protection and talent. He affirmed Kastar's strength and commitment, stating that the salon's focus on "cutting-edge technology + practical solutions" aligns with the association's goal of promoting the transformation of Fujian's coatings industry. He hoped that participants would use the salon to exchange ideas and cooperate, and that the association would also play a bridging role.

He provided an in-depth analysis of several product lines from Milliken's Borchers® coating additives: rheology modifiers, dispersants, leveling and defoaming agents, environmentally friendly drying/catalysts, dehydrators, and adhesion promoters. He highlighted Borchi® Gel 0620 water-based high-efficiency thickener and Borchi® Gen 1252 general-purpose dispersant.

02《Introduction and Applications of Imerys High-Performance Mineral》

Xu Zouhuan, China Coatings Sales Manager of Imerys (Shanghai) Investment Management Co., Ltd., delivered a presentation on "Introduction and Application of Imerys's High-Performance Minerals." The presentation detailed the types and characteristics of commonly used mineral fillers in the coatings industry (such as calcium carbonate, wollastonite, and talc), emphasizing the impact of aspect ratio on filler performance and the advantages of Imerys's HAR® process. It highlighted the characteristics, advantages, and testing performance of the high aspect ratio product SteaShield 10W, noting its outstanding effects in corrosion protection and stain masking. The presentation also introduced Imerys's Wuhu factory, showcasing Imerys's comprehensive strength in mineral solutions for coatings.

03《Sharing the Mechanism of Action and Applications of Bruno Bock's Thiochemicals》

Li Min, Technical Sales Manager of Bruno Bock, delivered a presentation titled "Sharing the Mechanism of Action and Applications of Bruno Bock's Thiochemicals." The presentation focused on two core products: Evabopol chain transfer agent and Thiocure polythiol. Finally, it provided an in-depth analysis of the reaction basis, characteristics, catalyst usage, performance, and application scenarios of thiol-olefin, thiol-epoxy, and thiol-isocyanate systems, comprehensively presenting the mechanism of action and application value of thiol chemicals.

04《Kastar's Understanding of Adhesion Promoters》

Li Baichuan, a senior technical expert from Shanghai Kastar Chemical New Materials Co., Ltd., delivered a presentation on "Kastar's Understanding of Adhesion Promoters." Li Baichuan engaged in in-depth discussions on adhesion promoters, emphasizing that the adhesion mechanism is a core prerequisite. He highlighted silane coupling agents among the types of adhesion promoters and, ultimately, based on the need to improve the acid, alkali, and salt spray resistance of paint films, proposed corresponding solutions using lanthanum-actinium adhesion promoters for water-based room-temperature self-drying systems, amino baking paints, melamine substrates, and UV free radical curing systems.

The interactive discussion session was particularly lively, with participants engaging in candid dialogue about industry pain points and technological bottlenecks.
