In the fields of industrial production and mechanical manufacturing, metal anti-corrosion is always a key unavoidable issue. A high-performance anti-corrosion coating can not only extend the service life of metal products but also reduce maintenance costs and ensure stable equipment operation. Today, Kastar recommends a product that performs outstandingly in the field of anti-corrosion coatings—LA ER 039 Modified Polymer Epoxy Emulsion. Let's take a look at its exceptional advantages!
PART.01 Multi-Scenario Application, Excellent Performance

Applicable Fields
1.General metal anti-corrosion coatings:Provides a reliable anti-corrosion barrier for ordinary metal materials, resisting erosion from environmental factors such as humidity and oxidation.
2.Industrial coatings:Suitable for coating various metal components in industrial production, helping to enhance the appearance and durability of industrial products.
3.Mechanical product coatings:Provides surface protection for mechanical products based on their usage characteristics, reducing wear and tear caused by friction and corrosion during operation.
Performance Advantages
| Property | Value / Specification |
| Product Name | LA ER 039 |
| Resin Type | Epoxy Resin Dispersion |
| Appearance | Milky White Liquid |
| Solid Content (%) | 37.0 - 41.0 |
| Viscosity (mPa·s) | 1000 - 6000 |
| pH | 9.0 - 10.0 |
| Solvent Composition | Water 40%, BCS 15-17% |
1.Flexible use:Can be used directly as a single-component coating, simplifying the construction process; can also be formulated with amino resins or blocked isocyanate curing agents for use as a baking paint, meeting coating requirements in different scenarios.
2.Excellent corrosion resistance:Effectively isolates external corrosive media, building a strong protective layer on the metal surface, significantly enhancing the metal's anti-corrosion capability.
3.Outstanding drying performance: Fast drying speed and good drying effect, shortening waiting time after coating and improving production efficiency.
4.Good pigment dispersion, excellent stability against mechanical dispersion: Pigments can disperse evenly in the coating, ensuring uniform color and improving appearance; meanwhile, good stability against mechanical dispersion means issues like pigment settling and stratification are less likely during storage and construction.
5.Strong adhesion: Bonds tightly with metal substrates, firmly adhering to the substrate surface, reducing the risk of coating peeling, and ensuring long-lasting protective effects.
PART.02 Experimental Presentation
01 Influence of Different Drying Methods on Performance
To explore the influence of different drying methods on the performance of LA ER 039 varnish (with film-forming additives DPM/DPNB=1:1), we conducted professional tests. The results are as follows: (Data from top to bottom: Curing condition, Dry film thickness, Adhesion/Grade (Cross-cut test), 60° Gloss, Pencil hardness, Water resistance (7d), SST(240h)

From the test data, it can be seen that under different curing conditions, the dry film thickness of LA ER 039 varnish remains stable at 20μm, adhesion all reaches Grade 0 (no coating peeling in the cross-cut test, optimal adhesion grade), and the 60° gloss is maintained at a high level, with stable overall performance. Among them, under the 140°C x 20min curing condition, the pencil hardness reaches 2H, showing the best hardness performance, easily withstanding daily friction and scratches; under the RT x 7d (room temperature for 7 days) curing condition, various performances are also excellent. Even if high-temperature operation is inconvenient, leaving it at room temperature for 7 days can achieve ideal performance. It can adapt well whether for assembly lines rushing deadlines or small-batch coating in special scenarios.
02 Adhesion Test on Different Substrates
For coatings, "how well it sticks" is key! For LA ER 039 varnish, we conducted adhesion tests on various common metal substrates. The results are as follows:

On electroplated carbon steel and stainless steel, it is as firmly as "welded", all achieving Grade 0 in the cross-cut test, with no large-area peeling even when vigorously scraped and pushed with a blade; even on electroplated stainless steel with varying surface conditions, whether polished smooth surfaces or untreated original surfaces, it can hold firmly; even on a "difficult" substrate like electroplated zinc white copper, the cross-cut test still maintains Grade 0. Although slight peeling occurs during scraping and pushing, it can be improved with slight surface treatment. It demonstrates strong adaptability face most commonly used industrial metals.
