The bonds of alma mater always bring like-minded people together across mountains and seas. As governing units of the Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) New Materials Alumni Association, both Kastar and Zhejiang Youqian have deeply cultivated their expertise in the coatings industry for years. Recently, Chen Mengru, Technical Vice President of Zhejiang Youqian Special Materials Co., Ltd., led a professional technical team to visit Kastar. This industry exchange, imprinted with BUCT’s legacy, was not only a deep technical collision but also a vivid practice of alumni enterprises jointly exploring the future of the industry. Both parties spoke freely on topics such as cutting-edge technologies and product innovation in the coatings field, igniting new sparks of win-win cooperation with wisdom and passion.

At the beginning of the exchange, accompanied by Li Baichuan, head of Kastar’s laboratory, Zhejiang Youqian’s technical team entered Kastar’s lab. Director Li enthusiastically introduced the laboratory’s overall layout and functional zones to the guests. Inside the lab, various high-precision experimental equipment were displayed in rows, while testing personnel operated instruments with focus, conducting performance tests on samples. Director Li used practical cases as entry points to demonstrate Kastar’s strict quality control processes for coatings, adhesives, and other products. Based on detailed market data, he provided an in-depth interpretation of new consumption trends and diversified demand characteristics in the current coatings market—from consumer requirements for environmental performance to pursuits of color personalization and functional diversity—presenting a comprehensive view of industry development trends.

Amid the heated discussion, General Manager He of Kastar delivered a speech:

“As governing units of the BUCT New Materials Alumni Association, Kastar and Youqian share not only alma mater memories but also a common goal to advance the coatings industry. This exchange with Zhejiang Youqian, along with collaborations with outstanding suppliers like Bruggemann and Borchers®, marks a crucial step toward higher goals. Kastar always regards technological innovation as the core driver of enterprise development. Through our ‘Equipment Investment + Experimental Validation + Technology Iteration’ closed-loop system, we precisely address global market demands and consistently deliver efficient solutions. We hope this exchange will lead to deep cooperation in technology sharing, product R&D, and other fields, enabling us to jointly tackle industry challenges, explore broader markets, and contribute greater strength to the industry.”

General Manager He’s speech drew enthusiastic applause and set the direction for further dialogue.

Exchange and Discussion

Immediately after, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on technical challenges and innovation directions within the industry. From Kastar’s core business areas—coatings, inks, adhesives, sealants, surface treatment, to chemical fibers—every topic sparked vigorous debate.

During the session, Kastar specifically introduced its silane product series. These silane products demonstrate significant effects in improving adhesion for water/solvent-based coating systems and pigment surface treatment, widely applied in glass fiber sizing agents, adhesives, coatings, inks, and other industries. Their performance advantages sparked strong interest from Zhejiang Youqian’s team, prompting detailed exchanges on product application specifics and market prospects.
