The 29th China International Composites Industrial Technical Exhibition
Harnessing Talent, Expanding Horizons, Unlocking New Opportunities Together
Look Back at Kastar’s Exhibition
Shanghai, China

From September 1st to 3rd, the 29th China International Composite Materials Industrial Technology Exhibition—a highly influential event for the composites industry in the Asia-Pacific region—brought together companies from across the global supply chain to explore new directions for innovation and development within the sector. Making its debut at the exhibition, Shanghai Kastar Chemical New Materials Co., Ltd. showcased its comprehensive range of specialty chemical solutions tailored for the composites, coatings, and inks industries. The company presented a variety of high-performance additives, functional fillers, colorants, and silane adhesion promoters designed specifically for the composites sector, offering targeted solutions to common formulation challenges encountered in applications such as fiberglass composites and epoxy-based systems.

At this exhibition, technical experts from Milliken Borchers®—a key strategic supplier to Kastar—were present at the Kastar booth to provide one-on-one technical support. They engaged in in-depth discussions with visiting clients regarding common challenges in composite formulation, additive selection, and system compatibility. By sharing cutting-edge formulation strategies, the two companies joined forces to help clients resolve practical production issues.

The Borchi®Gen series of wetting and dispersing agents, Borchi®Gol defoamers, cobalt-free eco-friendly driers (Borchi®OXY-Coat), rheology modifiers, dehydrating agents, and adhesion promoters address key challenges in composite systems—such as dispersion, foaming, sagging, and curing.

In addition to Milliken Borchers®, the booth also features products from several other leading international suppliers that partner with Kastar. These offerings—ranging from silane coupling agents, functional additives, and curing agents to mineral fillers, specialized color pastes, and unique adhesion promoters—are designed to comprehensively meet the diverse application requirements of the composite materials sector.

● DOWSIL: The OFS series of silane coupling agents—including OFS-6011, 6020, 6030, and 6032—are used for glass fiber sizing and the interfacial modification of composite materials, enhancing adhesion between inorganic fillers and resins. Additionally, the product range includes tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) and various silicone-based defoamers, suitable for use in composite systems such as epoxy, UV-curable, polyurethane, and unsaturated polyester resins.
● BRUNO BOCK: Thiocure polythiol rapid curing agents are designed for epoxy and UV-acrylate systems. They mitigate oxygen inhibition, enable rapid curing at low temperatures, and enhance both the toughness and hardness of composite coatings.
● Sibelco: Mineral powders—such as high-purity cristobalite powder, nepheline powder, soft quartz powder, and potash-soda feldspar—effectively enhance the hardness, mechanical strength, weather resistance, and chemical stability of composite products, while also optimizing their gloss and color retention.
● Imerys: Functional powders—such as talc, kaolin, mica, diatomite, calcium carbonate, and perlite—impart excellent barrier and anti-corrosion properties, matting effects, reinforcement, and salt-spray resistance to composite materials, while also improving the rheological properties of the system and the surface appearance of the finished products.
● CCA: Offers a comprehensive product line of color pastes spanning multiple segments, including water-based, solvent-based, UV-curable, and unsaturated polyester systems.
● Clariant: Wetting agents, epoxy resin emulsifiers, wax emulsifiers, and emulsion stabilizers—suitable for processes such as the preparation of emulsions for composite materials, pigment paste processing, and resin emulsification.
● Shanghai L.A. Chemical Science Co.,Ltd:

At the exhibition, attendees showed significant interest in silane coupling agents suitable for fiberglass applications—a key area for Shanghai L.A—as well as those designed for the copper-clad laminate (CCL) industry. Kastar offers a range of silane solutions tailored for the CCL sector; by matching specific silane products to different resin systems used in copper-clad laminates, the company effectively enhances interfacial bonding strength. Products 3123 and 3276 were highlighted as key recommendations.
